Kmerflix is an offline-first video subscription service that delivers curated USB packs weekly. We are designed to be privacy-conscious and as anonymous as possible while still operating a local delivery and billing service.

This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Our privacy promise

We aim to collect the minimum information needed to:

  • authenticate you,
  • deliver your weekly USB,
  • manage your subscription and payments, and
  • curate content based on your preferences.

In plain terms: we focus on your messaging contact (WhatsApp or Telegram), delivery details, and subscription preferences.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in a few categories.

2.1 Account and authentication data

When you log in via WhatsApp or Telegram, we may store:

  • your WhatsApp identifier (whatsapp_id),
  • your Telegram identifier (telegram_id),
  • your username and basic Django account metadata (such as date_joined, last_login, and account status flags).

We use temporary login keys and related metadata to complete the sign-in flow.

2.2 Subscription and delivery data

To deliver your USB and run the subscription, we store:

  • your living city (living_city),
  • your delivery district/quarter (shipping_district),
  • your exact delivery spot (shipping_sector),
  • your preferred delivery day (shipping_day),
  • your subscription type (subscription_type),
  • your selected USB size (storage_size), and
  • whether the registration fee has been paid (registration_fee_paid).

2.3 Preference and configuration data

To curate content, we store your preferences, including:

  • whether to include movies, series, anime, documentaries, and local shows,
  • your category selections for different content types,
  • your preferred video qualities, and
  • adult-content preferences when explicitly enabled by you.

2.4 Community opt-in data

If you choose, we store opt-in flags to add you to messaging communities:

  • add_me_to_whatsapp_community,
  • add_me_to_whatsapp_adult_community,
  • add_me_to_telegram_community,
  • add_me_to_telegram_adult_community.

These are optional and controlled by you.

2.5 Orders and product data

To fulfill deliveries, we store:

  • your orders,
  • order rows (which products were included), and
  • basic product metadata needed to manage the catalog.

2.6 Payment and billing data

To manage billing, we store payment records such as:

  • payment status and type,
  • due dates and timestamps, and
  • payment references needed to track subscription payments.

Kmerflix is designed around mobile money style flows. Where a payment phone number or identifier is required to validate a payment, it may be stored as part of payment operations.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • authenticate you and keep your account secure,
  • deliver weekly USB packs to the right place on the right day,
  • manage the registration fee and monthly subscription billing cycle,
  • curate and personalize your weekly content pack,
  • respond to support requests,
  • operate, maintain, and improve the service, and
  • communicate important service updates.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases / reasons for processing

Depending on your location, these are the primary reasons we process your data:

  • to provide the service you requested (subscription, delivery, billing),
  • with your consent (for optional community opt-ins and preference settings), and
  • for legitimate operational needs (such as preventing abuse, securing the platform, and keeping delivery records).

5. How we share information

We share information only when necessary to run the service. This may include:

  • delivery partners or internal delivery operations,
  • payment processing or payment reconciliation workflows, and
  • service providers who help us operate the platform.

We aim to share the minimum data required for each purpose.

6. Data retention

We retain information for as long as it is needed to:

  • provide the subscription service,
  • maintain billing and delivery history,
  • resolve disputes, and
  • meet legal or operational requirements.

When data is no longer needed, we aim to delete it or make it anonymous where reasonably possible.

7. Your choices and controls

You can:

  • update your subscription and delivery preferences,
  • change your content configuration,
  • opt in or out of messaging communities using the provided toggles, and
  • request account deletion (subject to any required record-keeping for billing and delivery integrity).

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use secure devices and protect access to your messaging apps.

9. Children’s privacy

Kmerflix is not intended for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and remove it as appropriate.

10. International use and local delivery scope

Kmerflix is a local delivery service. Availability and delivery operations may be limited to specific cities or regions.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
